Our Lego Winter Village Town MOC - 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop, 10216 Winter Village Bakery, 10222 Winter Village Post Office, 10229 Winter Village Cottage, 10235 Winter Village Market and 10245 Santa's Workshop!

Dashing through the snow to bring you Little Yellow Brick's Lego Winter Village Town MOC 2014, which includes the 10245 Santa's Workshop!

Our busy little Lego Winter Village Town! Picture comes with a curtain and wine chiller (kekeke)

This is probably the last Lego Winter Village MOC to use four base plates. Our town is getting a little too cramped for comfort! We actually did buy two new base plates, but the whole town looked a bit sparse! Next year then!

Shot taken from behind the stands. You can see that there are three main alleys - the first two alleys are motorised vehicle roads, while the rightmost alley is reserved only for reindeer!

Top view of our Lego Winter Village Town MOC. The picket fences are courtesy of Bricks World, who invited us to the launch of their Suntec City branch, which also happens to be Singapore's first Lego-certified store! Thank you Bricks World!

You will see that we have kept some of the designs from yesteryear, such as keeping the stands all on one side, and the carousel in the middle. Another unique design we decided to retain was our pine tree forest! This year, we went one better - we fenced it up!

Alright, enough said. As usual, enjoy the rest of the pictures in the complete post, and have a blessed Christmas! Thank you for supporting our blog!

XOXO,
The Little Yellow Bricks

Our 19th Lego project - 10245 Santa's Workshop

Model: 10245 Santa's Workshop
  • 883 Pieces
  • Released in 2014
  • Retail price: $69.99 USD

  • Hot on the heels of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer post comes our official post on the 10245 Santa's Workshop! The sixth set in the Lego Winter Village series, this set promises to be a game changer in many ways!

    View from the top!

How is it different from the previous sets, besides the lack of the term "Winter Village" in its name? We note the following:
    1. It has a bunch of imaginary characters - Santa, Mrs. Santa (is there even such a character, even in the imaginary world?), 4 adult reindeer, a reindeer fawn, and 4 elves!
    2. The workshop comprises two side shops which are joined together at an unusual angle. This is a challenge for our expanding Lego Winter Village MOC.
    3. The set has a Christmas tree but it is not a pine tree.
    4. Its mode of transport is other-worldly (?) - Santa's sleigh, drawn by 4 adult reindeer!
    5. There are two keys to the doors - we don't know if this is a first for all Lego sets, but definitely for the Lego Modular and Winter Village series!
The powers-that-be in Lego's creation department probably meant for the 10245 Santa's Workshop to be a standalone set. With props such as a sign that says "North Pole", it is not hard to imagine that they intended the set to be played as a dreamy toy factory located somewhere far, far away to the north. However, this set can still be incorporated as part of a bigger Lego Winter Village MOC - stay tuned for that!

Besides the four items mentioned above, the 10245 Santa's Workshop also comes equipped with an independent toy production machine with a conveyor belt, presumably operated by our friendly elves. All in all, a simply adorable set that promises to be a hit with children and the young-at-heart (which pretty much covers all Lego collectors)!

    View from the front!

With the appearance of Santa, his sleigh and a bunch of cute reindeer, you can be assured that Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer won't be the last you'll hear from us of a white-bearded old man in a red costume - strangely enough, he doesn't have a paunch! - who goes around handing gifts to well-behaving children! Anyway, enough said. Enjoy the pictures in the full post and thank you for reading our blog as always! Blessed Christmas!

    Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (10245 Santa's Workshop!)

    Dear readers of LYB,

Blessed Christmas in advance! In a break with tradition, we have decided to post this MOC (well, as you will see below, only ONE small item causes this to be so) ahead of our full post on the 10245 Santa's Workshop (YES, IT IS COMPLETED! However, as we need to let our creative juices flow, this is far easier to post). [Update as of 24 Dec 2014: check out our Lego Winter Village Town MOC 2014!]

Sorry if it seems like we are putting the cart before the horse - or sleigh before the reindeer (kekeke) - but with Baby LYB dominating our schedule we felt this would be a better arrangement. Enjoy!

Little Yellow Brick Attends The Opening of Singapore's First Lego Certified Store at Suntec City!

We were invited to the opening of Singapore's first Lego certified store at Suntec City this morning! Thank you Bricks World for the invite! :)

    Registration area!

Chima displays at the Lego atrium

Lego City Display and Lego free play area for children

Ribbon cutting by Her Excellency, Berit Basse, the Ambassador of Denmark to Singapore

Our turn to enter the store!

The vibrant pick a brick wall! To be honest, I was tempted to choose the more 'girly' bricks, but Mr Little Yellow Brick reminded that we probably have no use for them. Ended up choosing most of the white bricks - to build our Winter Village Town!

See what I mean by vibrant? Who can resist!!!

What's a Lego store without Lego sets...

    And more sets!

Check out what the Lego City Policeman is holding in his hand! [Update as of 24 Dec 2014: the picket fences have been used in our Lego Winter Village Town MOC 2014!]

The queue to enter the store at 10.30am. We hear that Lego fans started queuing as early as 6+am for the special buys! Sadly, we could not make purchases without joining in the queue. Maybe next time!

Thank you Bricks World for the invite! :)

Little Yellow Brick Pick #14 - 10243 Parisian Restaurant

Happiness comes in a HUGEEEEEE Amazon box today! :) Was surprised to see our Amazon purchases when we returned from work this evening! We eagerly opened the box to find our 10243 Parisian Restaurant! And the box was in great condition!! Yay to more online purchases from Amazon!

    Front of 10243 Parisian Restaurant

    Back of 10243 Parisian Restaurant

As usual, we apologise for our lack of updates. We haven't purchased many Lego sets of late, and although the 10244 Lego Fairground Mixer and 31026 Bike Shop and Cafe look quite tempting (to Mrs Little Yellow Brick), we aren't sure if we would be purchasing them to add to our collection.Well, don't fret.. you can be sure we will continue our Winter Village series once the next Winter Village set is on sale! :)

On a personal note, I am thankful for a good half year so far. We have collected our keys to our home, and... just maybe.. we could have a cabinet displaying our Lego collection; if space permits! :)
We will definitely post photos on Little Yellow Brick if we do so!

On another happy note, we are about 12 weeks more to welcoming Baby Little Yellow Brick! Although I wouldn't be purchasing Disney Princess Duplo (Ooooooooooooh 41055 Cinderella's Romantic Castle) and Lego Friends (Are you reading Mr Little Yellow Brick? Where's my Olivia's House?!?), I guess Baby Little Yellow Brick wouldn't mind a Duplo Zoo / Train Set. Hehehehe.

I'm very thankful for a blessed year so far. Meanwhile, do look out for our next entry on the 10243 Parisian Restaurant! We will definitely try to build it before I pop! :)

Our 18th Lego Project - 10232 Palace Cinema

    Model: 10232 Palace Cinema
    2194 pieces
    Released in 2013
    Retail price: $149.99 USD

Yup! We have finally built the 10232 Palace Cinema modular building! Although we completed the building in January we only got down to taking photos this month! Hehe.

Presenting our 18th Lego project..... 10232 Palace Cinema! :)

All eyes on our star minifig arriving at the Palace Cinema for her movie premiere!

Round the corner from Movie Boulevard!

    Time for the grand entrance!

Our 10232 Palace Cinema box. Bought in Munich while we were traveling! Notice that the box front doesn't indicate the number of pieces?

    Back of the box

The 10232 Palace Cinema is the 8th modular building released by Lego. It is also the first entertainment hangout where our town's minifigs can wind down after a hard week's work!

The third corner modular building after the 10182 Cafe Corner and the 10211 Grand Emporium, the 10232 Palace Cinema is a grand structure which rivals the colossal 10224 Town Hall in height. It is also the first modular building set to have "portable" structures - the floodlights and barriers are to be placed along the street. Additionally, the limousine is also expected to be outside of the pavement (the 10197 Fire Brigade also has a fire engine, but building has been designed to allow the entrance and exit of the vehicle).

The 10232 Palace Cinema is a lovely addition to the Lego Modular Town family. We are excited about combining it with our  Lego Modular Town. Stay tuned for our next post in this series!
